Websites & Apps
One system behind the website and the register.
Shopify builds, migrations and point of sale for businesses that sell in a room as well as online.
The hard part of a Shopify project is rarely the storefront. It is making the counter and the website agree about what is in stock, moving years of customer history without losing any of it, and keeping subscriptions charging straight through the switch.
Projects run 6 to 16 weeks, and the store keeps trading throughout.
Systems we work in
How we build
The store stays open while we work on it.
A shop that is trading cannot be taken offline for a rebuild, and a counter cannot wait for a deploy. That constraint shapes the whole engagement.
The cutover is planned before the design is
We agree the switch date, the freeze window and the rollback before anything gets drawn. Migrations fail on the day they go live, not during the build, so that is the day we plan first.
One inventory, counter and online
Point of sale and the website read the same stock. Two systems reconciled overnight is how stores end up selling things they do not have.
Subscriptions and customers move intact
Recurring charges, customer history and order records are the parts that actually break in a migration. They get moved and verified before the storefront is anyone’s concern.
Handed over properly
You get the theme repository, the documentation and a team that can run the store without calling us. Nothing about the handover depends on us staying in the picture.
Meet the Chek Digital Engine
The work does not stop at launch. Search, automation and the site itself compound each other instead of competing for the same budget.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Shopify project cost?
It depends almost entirely on what has to move, so the store review comes before the number. Three things decide it: whether you are migrating off another platform, whether physical stores and point of sale are in scope, and whether subscriptions have to move. A theme rebuild on a healthy store is the smallest version of this. A multi-location migration carrying inventory, POS and a subscription program is the largest. Either way it runs 6 to 16 weeks.
Can you migrate our store without closing it?
Yes, and that is the normal case. The store keeps selling while the new one gets built, and the cutover happens on a date you pick, with a rollback if it goes wrong. Annie’s Wine Cottage moved 90+ live wine club subscriptions off Stripe without a lapsed charge. Luxe Redux rolled point of sale into boutiques that stayed open through it.
We are already on Shopify. What would you actually do?
Usually three things. Fix what the theme is costing you, connect the systems that are not talking to each other, and get the counter and the website agreeing about inventory. Most stores we pick up were set up correctly for the business they were two years ago. Then came more locations, a subscription, a second sales channel, and the original setup quietly stopped fitting. That is what the store review is for.
Shopify publishes a setup guide. Why pay anyone?
For a single store selling online, don’t. Shopify’s own documentation is good and you should use it. Pay someone when there is more than one location, when inventory has to be right in two places at once, when subscriptions or a membership are involved, or when you are moving off a system holding years of customer history. Those are the parts where a mistake costs real money and is hard to reverse.
Custom theme or a paid one?
Whichever fits your catalog. If a paid theme does the job we will say so and set it up properly instead of billing you for a build you do not need. A custom theme earns its cost when the catalog has structure a template cannot express, or when the store has to do something themes are not built for: a members area, a club, a booking path.
Will the store be accessible?
We build to WCAG 2.2 AA as a matter of course — semantic markup, keyboard-operable components, visible focus states and real contrast — because retrofitting those into a finished site costs several times what building them in does. Where you need the work evidenced rather than assumed, for a procurement review or a demand letter, that is a full ADA compliance and accessibility audit, and it is its own engagement.
What happens to our search rankings when we migrate?
They hold if the redirects are right, and they do not if they are not. Every URL on the old store gets mapped to its destination before cutover and checked afterwards. Search is its own line of business here instead of something we bolt onto a build, so there is a whole team on it — see Site Performance, SEO & AEO.
Do you work with Shopify Plus?
Yes.
Do you build Shopify apps?
Yes. For Luxe Redux Bridal we built a Shopify POS extension hosted on Cloudflare, running scheduled jobs that sync to their Endear CRM. Custom apps are for the case where the behavior you need does not exist in Shopify or in anything on the app store. They are not a default.
Who looks after the store after launch?
We do, if you want us to. Updates, off-site backups with restores actually tested, malware scanning and monitoring for uptime, SSL expiry and form delivery are a website maintenance plan, and it is a separate agreement from the build. Plenty of clients run their own. What we will not do is hand over a site and leave the question unanswered.
Do you do WooCommerce?
No. Shopify is the platform we build commerce on. Where a custom platform we have built needs to take payments or issue invoices, that is Stripe — see Custom Web App Development.
